It’s something of a rarity for me these days, but photographing a wedding somehow took on new meaning after a year bereft of touch and reunion. For Alexia and James this was their third attempt. And I can’t fault their determination to make it special for everyone there.
Alexia and James are charming. They have an eloquence and attention to detail that I could only dream of. And their love for each other is clear. Thank you to you and your guests for making it great fun and for embracing every bit of the day.
I wrote a short poem whilst I sat eating my dinner in the back courtyard, waiting for the guests to pile through for the first dance. I hope it brings a little something extra to the sneak preview of images below.
The evening light simmers
The air hangs, blankets
a day of frills, frollicks and fuzzy love.
Through tall glowing windows
the band pauses
Silence holds the room
and a patient dance floor waits
There’s movement, clatter, voices
Laughter seeps through frescoed walls
And lifted hearts return,
fill dusty corners and high ceilings,
spill out the open doors
and bless the night sky.
Reunion, waited so long, shines bright again.
